All-steel fire-rated partition systems

Two all-steel systems for fire compartment lines and escape routes. M-116 is Class A, insulating: it holds back heat as well as flame. MJ-95 is Class C, non-insulating, on the same frame construction. Both use roll-formed steel profiles with graphite intumescent strips and take fire-rated glass from 6 mm to 38 mm.

Class A or Class C — the difference

The difference is what the partition has to do in a fire, not how it is built: both systems use the same all-steel frame, intumescent strip and glazing range.

Class A · insulating

M-116 — integrity and insulation

A Class A partition resists the passage of flame and limits the heat crossing it. Specify it where the compartment line must hold back heat as well as fire, for example between a compartment and the escape route serving it.

Class C · non-insulating

MJ-95 — integrity only

A Class C partition resists the passage of flame and hot gases but is not required to limit heat transfer. It suits areas where containing fire and smoke is the requirement.

Ratings are selected per project. Give us the class and the rating the fire strategy calls for and we build the frame and glazing around it.

Documentation

Fire resistance documentation is provided per project on request.

Mingjia builds these systems to a stated construction and a stated rating, and makes no third-party fire approval claim for the assemblies themselves. The class and rating you specify — Class A at ≥ 2.0 h, for example — are confirmed against your project's fire strategy before they are relied on, and the frame, glazing and intumescent build-up is set out in writing.

The third-party reports we can publish cover other systems, and we keep them separate on purpose: the steel-core aluminium-clad partition system, measured at Rw 46 dB with wind load resistance Class 5, water tightness Class 4 and reaction to fire Class B1 to GB 8624-2012 (report no. CS425113133AQ734Z); and our aluminium profiles, tested to the GB/T 5237 series with all 19 items conforming (report no. CS925706226AQ947Z). Neither covers the fire-rated assemblies. Details are on the certificates page.

Talk to us about your project

Send the compartment drawings or elevations, the class and rating you have to meet, and the glazing you intend to use. We quote against drawings, with the frame, intumescent detail and glass itemised.
